My successes.

As the mother of two young daughters, she knew the importance of reliable and well-vetted childcare. She has partnered with local colleges such as Cedar Crest College and Penn State Career Services to hire students in the Early Childhood Development program for temporary nannying positions. For longer positions such as in the case of newborns where families desire permanent childcare until their child is a teenager, Dilia interviews nannies desiring such a position.  All employees and families are subject to rigorous background checks. This process ensures the safety of the children as well as the safety of the nannies.  As a past nanny and current Child Protection case worker, she implements her knowledge to match families with their childcare professionals.   Dilia also helped recruit for the Active Learning Center in Emmaus which serves to empower children through knowledge of the Martial Arts which teaches confidence and discipline.  She will also expand the scope of The Nanny Loft by providing the Goddard School in Breinigsville with substitute staff when their employees require sick days or vacation.

Since she encounters foster families in her job, she started a non-profit- The Nanny Loft Foundation- which provides funding for families who need childcare but cannot afford it. Beneficiaries of this program vary from parents needing time to attend classes to foster parents who care for several siblings and need some respite time.  Her foundation is partly funded by application fees for The Nanny Loft.

Lehigh Valley SCORE congratulates Dilia and wishes her continued success.  Ed Overtree and Julian Lewis look forward to assisting Dilia as her wonderful businesses expand.

How Did Your Business Get Started?

Dilia Coppedge, the founder of The Nanny Loft and The Nanny Loft Foundation, is one of Lehigh Valley SCORE’s latest success stories. She launched her business less than a year ago and it has grown significantly. Dilia’s idea was fostered as she served as a nanny and worked in child protection services in New Jersey.  The Nanny Loft facilitates the process of matching families needing childcare with individual childcare providers.

She came to Lehigh Valley SCORE for mentoring after she researched a possible small business in the Lehigh Valley and attended one of LV SCORE’s monthly roundtables.  She did not officially apply for nearly four years, but when she finally started the mentoring process with Ed Overtree and Julian Lewis, the result was a great success as she developed her two entities.
